First and foremost, it’s important to understand that code compliance relies on quite a few factors. Depending on the state, county, or even city you’re in, there are different requirements. However, regardless of where you are, Garmat is passionate about providing you with the information needed to get the ball rolling.
At the end of the day, before any equipment or vehicles make their way through the paint booth, you need to make sure everything is code compliant. You need to build a booth that is constructed in accordance to a variety of national and international safety standards for both employees and equipment.
Luckily for you, Garmat paint booths are compliant with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) as well as the International Fire Code (IFC). However, our products have also receive testing and are compliant with OSHA and UL.
Get All Of Your Permits
Once you decide to begin the paint booth installation process, make sure you have all of the necessary national and local permits you need to install and operate a spray booth. However, the permits aren’t just for the booth itself, but also for the construction. You’ll need electrical permits, but you’ll also need contractors to deal with fire suppression and building inspectors to make sure it’s compliant with NFPA 33 and any local codes.
Create An Installation Plan
Once you’ve acquired all the necessary permits, you can now begin to plan. Garmat works with customers during the installation planning period to install the booth(s) so they can fit within your facility. However, we’ll also work with anyone else on the job to make the entire process as easy as possible. During planning, make sure you look at a power source (the type / amount of power), fuel source, (the distance / type of fuel source), engineering (wall removal / structural supports, etc.), roof reinforcement (integrity / support needed), pit excavation (may need to include this in any permit applications), code compliance (AHJ compliant).
Building Your Spray booth
Garmat paint booth parts and components are efficiently shipped directly to you. Beyond that, Garmat sends out a field technician to help during the building process as well as provide training involving the paint booth. Our field technicians specialize in safety and precision when handling the paint booth construction.
As for installation time, it can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks depending on the location, size, complexity, and amount of paint booths. If you decide to not build the paint booth up yourself, the Garmat field technician will assist with the development of the cabin, duct-work, roof, and lighting.
